Crochet Dolls - Last Call
The title says it all. LAST CALL!
The crochet dolls are going away after this next batch. Today I am simply writing a quick note to say THANK YOU ALL who have contributed to the creation of these dolls. I am getting word that this MAY be the last run for the dolls. Here's the story if you want to keep reading:
I placed my next order of dolls recently. I am still taking some orders as they come in but I am likely to cut it shorter than what I was hoping for. The dolls I order is ONLY in support of the doll maker. I promise her that I can sell them and ship them world wide. Something that is not easy for her to do due to costs associated with shipping. Shipping service is not as good for some countries as it is for others. The cost of shipping 20 dolls is the same as shipping 1 item. So having someone place an order for 1 item will cost you an arm and a leg. This is where I came in. I would order more than one and have her paid up-front for her work and have all of them shipped to me for one price. Typically the same rate as it is to ship one.
Once I would get them in, I would sell them for her on my site. It's really a simple arrangement. I kept the price decent and nearly at half of what others selling similar items would charge. That was one of the best things we had going here. The best part of this was that it was supporting my friend the doll maker in Brazil.
As of lately, I had discovered that she had published a book that became wildly successful about a year ago. Since then, I had placed at least one large order and followed some of her success with the book she wrote.
In the time it took to sell most of the dolls until now, when it is time to order more, she has moved on to more books.
I spoke to her about placing a new order and she has told me that she has already left the crochet doll business for more book publishings. In fact, the success is so good, she literally started her own book publishing company! So that PLUS the fact that she has been doing crochet dolls for a decade, it had already been taking a toll on her physically. Her hands cannot handle much more and this was a great alternative to do something else in her entrepreneurial journey.
Thus, we are here today to announce that this is likely the last of the crochet doll batches she will do. She accepted to this final batch for me, perhaps out of respect for the fact that I was one of her biggest supporters. I am extremely happy for her journey and where it has led her. In a way, I am also sad to know that this concept will be going away.
Could I get someone to work with me on producing more of these? Maybe. Only time will tell. Right now, the short answer is no. I do not have any else that I planned to do something similar to what I did with her. She had a gift that I felt could not be compared to anyone. It was one of the best things I ever done for someone else. I am glad it was a great run while it lasted. Maybe in time I will come up with something new. A new idea that will be as good as this.
So there you have it. The end is near. If you wish to support her for the last time or never considered to support her, this last batch will remain in my inventory until it is sold out. I make nothing on these dolls.
I will be paying her upfront for costs associated in creating these and I will simply reimburse myself when they sell. Otherwise, I will donate them to the right people in due time.

The inventory line is growing and we are NOT slowing down for anything.
